Finance Minister Ngô Văn Tuấn met a Samsung delegation led by Samsung Electronics finance and accounting executive Kim Dong Wook on 6 November. The discussion covered the investment environment, high technology and links between Vietnamese businesses and the group’s supply chain.
Samsung’s figures for Vietnam
Kim told the meeting that Samsung’s revenue and exports in Vietnam had each grown at double-digit rates year on year through the end of October 2026, according to the Finance Ministry. He said output at its Vietnamese entities had increased as strategic smartphone models launched during the year were well received globally.
The executive said Samsung’s cumulative investment in Vietnam stood at about $24 billion at the end of 2025. That figure was reported by the company at the meeting; the ministry did not announce a new investment amount signed on 6 November.
Kim also attributed positive Samsung Electronics performance in 2026 to demand for semiconductors and growth in artificial intelligence. He said the company was focusing on premium AI-enabled phones, televisions and home appliances while continuing to invest in research, development and infrastructure.
Policy and local suppliers
Tuấn acknowledged Samsung’s interest in high, green and clean technology and in increasing Vietnamese companies’ participation in its supply chain. Those directions do not establish that a new project or specific investment has been approved.
Kim expressed interest in revisions to the Investment Law being considered by the National Assembly. He discussed expectations for technology transfer, technical training, domestic businesses and the green transition.
According to the ministry, Samsung raised proposals to address difficulties and improve the investment environment. The minister said he had instructed relevant units to review application procedures, simplify administration and shorten processing times within their authority. The meeting report did not specify an outcome for each proposal.
