Hà Nội's women's volleyball team are targeting the semi-finals at the 2026 National Sports Games, coach Nguyễn Tuấn Kiệt told Sài Gòn Giải Phóng. The squad are training in southern Vietnam before the indoor competition, scheduled in Ho Chi Minh City from November 27 to December 11.
The target of reaching the last four follows a national club championship campaign in which Kiệt's team finished runners-up. Their Games preparation group differs in several places from the earlier club squad.
Two additions before the final list
Sài Gòn Giải Phóng reported that Nguyễn Lý Thụy Vi and Đinh Thị Vân are not in Hà Nội's Games plans. Outside hitter Vi Thị Như Quỳnh is also absent because she is not in her best physical condition, according to the newspaper.
The coaching staff added Nguyễn Thị Kiều Oanh and Bùi Hồng Nhung from Hóa chất Đức Giang, bringing the preparation group to 14 players. That is the training group, not a confirmed final registration.
The indoor volleyball regulations allow each men's or women's team to register between 10 and 14 athletes. Organisers plan a technical meeting on November 26 before the official team lists are determined.
Eight registered women's teams
The eight teams listed by Sài Gòn Giải Phóng are host Ho Chi Minh City, defending champions Army, Hà Nội, Ninh Bình, Thanh Hóa, Tây Ninh, Quảng Ninh and Hưng Yên. The scheduled venue is Rạch Miễu Arena in Ho Chi Minh City.
Before beginning this preparation, Kiệt's Hà Nội club side lost 3-1 to Binh chủng Thông tin in the national club championship final in Vĩnh Long on October 25. Sài Gòn Giải Phóng reported that Hà Nội won the third set 25-16 after dropping the first two, but their opponents took the fourth for the title.
At the club tournament's closing ceremony, Hà Nội's Nguyễn Khánh Đang received the best defensive player award. The National Sports Games are a separate event with their own registrations, and Hà Nội's semi-final target remains to be tested when play begins.
