The State Bank of Vietnam’s Region 2 branch held a digital-transformation workshop in Ho Chi Minh City on 6 November. Deputy governor Phạm Tiến Dũng urged regional branches to improve data quality, share useful tools and protect information when applying technology.
Branch products and experience
Representatives of 14 regional branches and central-bank departments attended, the bank said. The programme had two parts: a display where delegates could try digital products from the branches, followed by presentations and discussion.
The meeting was intended to let branches share initiatives already used locally and discuss how to cooperate and reuse digital products in management. The central bank’s report did not list every product or give a number for tools adopted across branches.
Dũng described regional branches as the central bank’s link to local implementation. He said improved processes, command of data and technology could strengthen the effectiveness of banking-sector administration.
Data and security requirements
The deputy governor stressed that data should be accurate, complete, consistent and shareable. He asked branches to study which initiatives could be replicated, encourage solutions arising from operational needs and protect official data.
He also called for responsible, effective and safe use of artificial intelligence. The comments set out a direction discussed at the workshop; the report did not announce a specific AI system deployed across every branch.
Võ Minh Tuấn, director of the Region 2 branch, said his unit would translate the guidance into an action programme. He argued that staff who understand day-to-day work can develop solutions to departmental problems, alongside the requirement to maintain information security.
