Teams from across the Mekong Delta
The expanded city-level competition will contest the Bình Minh Plastics Cup. Participating boats are expected to represent Khmer pagodas in Cần Thơ and elsewhere in the Mekong Delta. Organisers identified the river grandstand area in Phú Lợi and Sóc Trăng wards as the venue.
City culture, sports and tourism director Nguyễn Văn Bảy described the event as an opportunity for athletes and communities to meet while maintaining traditional cultural practices. The figure of about 60 teams remains a planning estimate rather than a final entry list or an attendance count.
Preparations extend beyond racing
The proposed programme also includes traditional costumes, floating lanterns and Cà Hâu boats, a moon-worship ceremony, regional food, tourism promotion and an OCOP product fair.
Officials said cultural performances, heritage displays and funding coordination were being prepared. Deputy city chair Nguyễn Thị Ngọc Điệp called for continued business participation. The tourism department and Bình Minh Plastics signed a communications cooperation agreement for the festival. That agreement concerns preparations; it does not represent a race result. The accompanying racing photograph is an archive illustration, with the November competition still ahead at publication.
