Vietnam's government projects total 2026 imports and exports at US$1.11 trillion, which would exceed the trillion-dollar threshold for the first time. Prime Minister Le Minh Hung presented the estimate to the National Assembly on October 17, according to the Government News portal.

The report expects fourteen of fifteen main socioeconomic indicators to be met or exceeded. Those full-year projections are distinct from completed nine-month results and remaining policy objectives.

Growth and investment results

Third-quarter GDP grew 9.95 per cent, taking nine-month growth to 9.01 per cent. Industry and construction expanded 11.21 per cent, while international arrivals reached 17.7 million, up 14.5 per cent.

Trade rose 30.4 per cent during the reporting period. Total social investment reached VND3.11 quadrillion, and registered foreign investment amounted to US$50.36 billion.

Public investment disbursement approached VND643 trillion, equivalent to 63 per cent of the plan. Completing the full-year allocation therefore remains an objective rather than an accomplished result.

Continuing macroeconomic pressures

Average consumer prices increased 4.52 per cent over nine months. The report acknowledges external energy-price pressures, high financing demand and elevated deposit and lending rates.

It also identifies difficulties facing smaller businesses seeking credit and land, an insufficiently sustainable trade structure and uneven distribution of growth benefits.

Remaining priorities include lower borrowing costs, energy supply, domestic demand and delayed-project resolution. Double-digit growth remains a goal, while the US$1.11 trillion trade figure is a forecast awaiting year-end confirmation.
