For businesses

The 10 business lines needing security plans include support tools, fireworks other than explosive ones, prize games including casinos and betting, industrial explosives and their precursors, blasting services, nightclubs, accommodation run by companies, and weapons supplied to the armed forces.

Lottery fines reach 100 million dong for individuals and 200 million dong for organisations. In the data sector, collecting or creating data that leaks sensitive information or harms the rights of others or national security can draw fines of 40-60 million dong. From 15 November, foreign organisations and individuals hiring Vietnamese staff must notify the managing agency in writing and post vacancies on the national job exchange, another legal job portal or their own official website.

For families

Schools no longer have to hold full parent meetings three times a year at fixed points. A parents' conference is held at the start of the school year, with further meetings only when needed, and meetings and votes can be held in person, online or both. Compulsory primary education applies to children aged 6-14 who have not finished primary school, and compulsory lower secondary education to those aged 11-18 who have finished primary but not lower secondary school. Veterans' families can claim funeral allowances with fewer documents, including online via the national public service portal, with the commune given five days and the provincial home affairs department seven working days to process claims.

What comes next

The key dates still ahead are 10, 11, 15 and 30 November. The 0% petrol tax applies until 31 March 2027.
