Wolves came from behind to beat Burnley 2–1 at Turf Moor in the Championship on October 16 in Britain. Substitute Tawanda Chirewa scored shortly after entering, extending Burnley's home league winless run to twenty-one games, the Guardian reported.

The fixture belongs to the Championship, not the current Premier League. Burnley's last home league victory was against Leeds on October 18, 2025, when they were in the top division.

Vardy's opener is cancelled out

Jamie Vardy scored his first Burnley goal with a low twentieth-minute finish past Jose Sa. The hosts played positively in the opening half but failed to increase their advantage.

A mistake by captain Kyle Walker allowed Fer Lopez to equalise before the interval, giving Wolves renewed momentum.

The visitors had lost their previous two games and were dealing with absences, including Raul Jimenez and Adam Armstrong. The result therefore interrupted a difficult sequence.

A decisive substitution

Chirewa replaced Sean Neave in the seventy-second minute. Seconds later, Mateus Mane capitalised on Igor Julio's heavy touch and released him to score from an angle despite Gregoire Coudert touching the shot.

Tommy Doyle missed a later chance to extend the margin, but Wolves protected the lead.

Coach Cesar Peixoto praised the substitute's readiness while describing the win as an important three points. Burnley manager Nicky Hayen said he would not give up, without announcing any decision about his position.

The home problem continues after Burnley also lost a lead to Charlton in their previous Turf Moor fixture, conceding a late equaliser.
