Liverpool came from behind to beat Brentford 2–1 on October 17, with Victor Munoz equalising and Alexander Isak scoring the winner. The club's report noted that Brentford finished with nine men after dismissals at different stages.
Yehor Yarmoliuk was sent off before half-time while the hosts led. Vitaly Janelt received a second yellow in stoppage time after Liverpool had moved ahead. The entire comeback therefore did not take place against nine players.
Brentford lead amid VAR decisions
Both teams created early openings. Liverpool were initially awarded a penalty following Alexis Mac Allister's contact with Dango Ouattara, but VAR overturned the decision.
Keane Lewis-Potter then headed in Thiago's delivery. Brentford retained the lead at the interval despite Yarmoliuk's dismissal for his conduct towards Jeremy Jacquet.
Liverpool also made enforced changes. Dominik Szoboszlai left early, and Jeremie Frimpong came on at half-time before being replaced himself. Those early substitutions required further adjustments to the visiting side after the interval.
Munoz and Isak turn it around
Liverpool increased pressure after the break, with Mac Allister testing Caoimhin Kelleher and Virgil van Dijk shooting wide. Munoz finally equalised after the hour, cutting inside from the right and finishing low with his left foot.
Isak supplied the winner after Barcola headed back Mac Allister's delivery, controlling and finishing from a tight angle. Barcola later struck the crossbar.
Janelt's foul on Ngumoha brought the late second booking. Andoni Iraola's side secured three points after overcoming an early deficit and two enforced substitutions. Brentford had protected their advantage until beyond the hour, but Munoz and Isak changed the outcome in the second half.
