Deputy Prime Minister Phạm Thị Thanh Trà has broadly endorsed Hanoi's plan for a special art programme to celebrate Vietnam Culture Day 2026, according to Báo Văn Hóa. Her instructions were conveyed in Government Office dispatch 10851/VPCP-KGVX, dated 24 October 2026, in response to the Hanoi People's Committee's proposal on how the event should be staged and on what scale. The programme is scheduled for 20:00 on 24 November 2026 at Mỹ Đình National Stadium in Hanoi, with about 60,000 people taking part.

The dispatch asks organisers to make sure the public can take part in and fully enjoy the event, in line with guidance from the Central Steering Committee on the development of Vietnamese culture.

Who does what

The Hanoi People's Committee must quickly finalise and issue an organising plan. It will lead work with the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, the Ministry of National Defence, the Ministry of Public Security, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other agencies on a detailed script and a clear division of tasks. The event is to be solemn, creative, safe, economical, effective and far-reaching, as required by the Prime Minister's Directive 35/CT-TTg and Government Office Notice 524/TB-VPCP.

Vietnam Television and the four ministries have been asked to appoint senior representatives to the organising committee and to work closely with Hanoi on performers, the venue, live broadcasting, publicity, and security and public order.

The show and the paper trail

Under the plan, the programme will run for 120-150 minutes and combine traditional and contemporary art with modern stage technology, tracing Vietnamese culture from its roots to the present and looking to the future. A highlight will be a high-altitude fireworks display expected to last 15 minutes. The plan calls for a distinctive and engaging show with absolute security and safety, making it a centrepiece of the Great National Unity Culture Week.

It will be broadcast live on channel H1 of Hanoi's press, radio and television agency, and Vietnam Television will relay it live on its own channels and platforms.

What comes next

The next moves are Hanoi's: issuing the organising plan and completing the detailed script with the ministries, while the ministries and Vietnam Television name their members of the organising committee. The report does not yet give a line-up of performers or explain how members of the public can attend at the stadium.

The Mỹ Đình show is not the only event planned around Vietnam Culture Day; several localities have also set out their schedules. See Vietnam plans 80th anniversary of National Culture Day in November 2026 and Ho Chi Minh City plans cultural programme for November and December.
