Ho Chi Minh City Police hope to return to Thong Nhat stadium for their ASEAN club competition match against Buriram at 19:30 on 18 November. Sai Gon Giai Phong reports that the venue change still depends on inspection and an AFF decision.

Temporary home during renovation

Thong Nhat entered renovation in March 2026. The club have used Binh Duong as their home ground since the closing part of 2025/26, while the city's women's teams also moved to other venues.

The full project is scheduled for completion at the end of the first quarter of 2027. Priority facilities for the national sports games are being completed earlier, creating the possibility of a club return before the entire project finishes.

Bongdaplus lists an expected construction period of 360 days and investment of nearly VND320 billion from the city budget. Important facilities are targeted for completion before 20 November.

Inspection before a venue decision

The reported checks cover the pitch, floodlights and functional rooms. These form part of the assessment before the stadium can host the regional club fixture.

Bongdaplus says the pitch and running track have been completed, while lighting, Stand B and associated rooms remain under improvement. Sai Gon Giai Phong also notes that work is continuing in some areas.

The next step is inspection and a venue decision for the Buriram meeting. The club's proposed 18 November return remains subject to that process. Further developments can be followed through Vietnam football news.
