BUSADCO technology used to protect the banks of Hoàn Kiếm Lake is among the projects recommended for the seventh round of the Hồ Chí Minh Prize for science and technology. The Ministry of Science and Technology published a state council's recommendations covering eleven projects or clusters for that prize and one cluster for the State Prize.
Assessment followed specialist reviews
Deputy minister Lê Xuân Định said 29 of 30 submitted applications qualified for consideration: 17 for the Hồ Chí Minh Prize and twelve for the State Prize. Specialist councils reviewed them between August 10 and September 5, 2026, under Decree 18/2024/NĐ-CP.
Twenty-three councils covered engineering, technology, social sciences, humanities, natural sciences and defence. The ministry also sought compliance assessments, reviewed author eligibility and worked with relevant agencies on copyright and research-integrity questions. Project names and specialist assessments were published on its portal.
Medical research and applied technology
Five medical projects or clusters feature among the Hồ Chí Minh Prize recommendations, covering Central Highlands healthcare, vaccines, liver transplantation, tissue and organ donation from brain-dead donors, and cardiovascular and thoracic interventions.
Other fields include sedimentary geology, Hoàn Kiếm protection technology, engineered stone, specialised fuels, Đại Hùng oilfield development and dual-use 5G infrastructure. A Bạch Mai Hospital cluster involving nine authors and co-authors, concerning stroke-unit networks and advanced treatment, was recommended for the State Prize.
The published list records council recommendations. Inclusion does not mean a final award has already been formally conferred.
