Vietnam’s Ministry of Finance has proposed a list of 12 categories of imported goods that would require customs clearance at the port of entry, Bao Chinh Phu reported on September 29. The draft circular also sets out exceptions depending on the goods, their import purpose and the customs clearance location.
The exceptions discussed include certain goods for production and processing, warehouses and duty-free shops, as well as goods meeting urgent needs under specified conditions. The provisions remain proposals and do not constitute a new obligation already in force for every imported shipment.
