Ho Chi Minh City's publishing delegation received cooperation proposals from 36 international organisations, rights representatives and authors at the 2026 Frankfurt Book Fair. VnExpress reported the results on October 16, after the delegation's October 7–11 participation in Germany.

The stand presented nearly 100 English-language and bilingual books promoting Vietnamese culture. It recorded almost 500 international visits during the final two public days, a figure for that stand rather than the entire fair.

Rights discussions across categories

City publishing representatives said exchanges covered education, fiction, children's books and academic journals. Contact with 36 prospective partners does not mean 36 contracts were signed or rights transactions completed.

Subjects attracting interest included research on Ho Chi Minh, food, landscapes, tourism and illustrated bilingual children's books. Foreign authors and organisations also approached Vietnamese publishers about translation and local publication.

Deputy culture and sports department director Nguyen Ngoc Hoi said the city wanted to present both publishing content and printing capabilities. This would connect printing businesses directly with potential partners at book fairs.

Preparing future participation

The city's priorities include English-language or bilingual titles on food, tourism, history and children's subjects, improved design and English summaries on back covers. Related cultural gifts are another proposed development.

It also plans a more professional presence at London, Bologna and regional fairs, with support for authors and specialists attending international discussions and awards.

Kim Dong Publishing House separately displayed literature, knowledge titles, picture books and comics, including bilingual and foreign-language editions. It was the publisher's fifth consecutive year with a Frankfurt stand.
