A double-circuit 220 kV line connecting Bạc Liêu substation to the existing Cà Mau power plant–Sóc Trăng line has been successfully energised, the Government News reported. The approximately 4.37-km project is intended to improve the regional transmission network.

More than a new stretch of line

EVNNPT owns the project, with its Southern Power Projects Management Board, SPMB, managing implementation. Power Transmission Company 4 takes over operation.

The works also rearrange the connections for the Bạc Liêu wind power plant line and the line towards Sóc Trăng at Bạc Liêu substation. The station was expanded with additional bays and related equipment.

The report locates the project in Bạc Liêu ward, Cà Mau province, while explaining the area’s former administrative names. The substation’s name should therefore be distinguished from the current provincial description supplied by the source.

Construction constraints give way to operation

Implementation required coordinated outage schedules so existing connections could be rearranged. Site-clearance difficulties also affected progress. EVNNPT and SPMB worked with southern system dispatchers, transmission operators, local authorities and residents to resolve those issues.

The reported purposes include stronger regional links, more reliable supply, lower losses and support for transmitting renewable generation from the southwest into the national system. No measured post-commissioning loss reduction or released generation capacity is provided. The next responsibility is operational management by Power Transmission Company 4. The source does not specify an exact energisation date, so its publication date should not be substituted for that milestone.
