Germany’s Lasse Hüper and Filo Wüst will face Austria’s Paul Hohenauer and Martin Poinstingl in the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympics boys’ beach volleyball final on November 4. Volleyball World reported that both leading seeds reached the gold-medal match at Saly Beach West with six wins from six.

Germany carries its U18 title into another final

Top seeds Hüper and Wüst won the U18 World Championship in The Hague in July. They defeated Brazil’s Gabriel Campos and Bruno Fellipe Lobo Silva Souza 21-15, 21-18 in the Dakar semifinal, after beating Iran’s Amirreza Jamshidi Khalkiasari and Amin Vakili 21-16, 21-17 in the quarterfinal.

Wüst discussed the expectations surrounding the favourites, while Hüper welcomed Senegalese support and anticipated a close contest against familiar Austrian opponents. Those are pre-final assessments, not confirmation of another title.

Austria remains unbeaten too

Second seeds Hohenauer and Poinstingl beat Australia’s Ryan Edgar and Thomas Turner 21-15, 21-16 in their semifinal. Earlier, they defeated Chile’s Gael Arias Saldias and Francisco Farias Valdivia 21-11, 21-9.

Hohenauer highlighted the quality of their sideout play. Poinstingl described recovery and opponent analysis as the next preparation steps. Reaching the final guarantees Austria a medal, but its colour remains undecided.

The November 4 men’s programme begins with Australia–Brazil for bronze at 12:00 local time/GMT. Germany and Austria play for gold at 15:00. Their unbeaten runs establish the strength of the matchup; only the final will determine the champion.
