Angeliki Charissaki and Grigoria Anna Margaritopoulou of Greece won two matches on 2 November to reach the girls’ beach volleyball quarter-finals at Dakar 2026. Volleyball World reported their progress through the lucky-loser round and then the last 16 at Saly Beach West.

Two rounds in one day

The Greeks first defeated Puerto Rico’s pair 21–12, 21–11. They followed that with a 21–15, 21–16 victory over Canada’s Julia McDougall and Natalia Casas to secure a quarter-final place.

Both wins came in straight sets, but they belonged to different rounds. The first victory alone did not put Greece into the final eight.

Top seeds Zhuang Ming and Qi Siyu of China beat Malaysia 21–8, 21–16. Nigeria’s Pamela Miyoum Bawa and Joy Lawrence defeated Thailand 21–16, 21–13 in another part of the qualification picture.

The final eight and the next draw

Greece are joined by China, the Netherlands, Nigeria, Argentina, Mexico, Italy and Switzerland. The Dutch maintained their unbeaten run against Egypt; Argentina reached four wins without defeat, while Italy also won a fourth match without dropping a set.

The quarter-finals pair Nigeria with the Netherlands, Mexico with China, Argentina with Italy and Greece with Switzerland. Different routes into this round do not remove the need to win the next match.

Quarter-finals and semi-finals are scheduled for 3 November, with medal matches on 4 November. Greece’s immediate task is to face Switzerland’s Anja Gähwiler and Noemi Eugster. The two wins on 2 November restored their opportunity, rather than guaranteeing a medal-round appearance.
