Momentum changes twice
Hanoi won the opening set 25-16, with Mihajlovic producing points from difficult situations. Binh chủng Thông tin improved their coordination to take the second 25-14, then edged the third 25-23. The pressure switched to Hanoi to keep the match alive. Their opponents reached opportunities to finish at 25-24 and 26-25 in the fourth, but Mihajlovic helped Hanoi respond and claim it 29-27. The narrow margins contrasted with the more decisive opening sets.
A contested point in the decider
Hanoi moved 4-0 ahead before Binh chủng Thông tin levelled at 4-4, with Thomas-Ailara contributing through attacks and blocks. At 10-10, Lê Thanh Thúy's play gave Hanoi the next point. The opposition protested that an infringement had occurred, but the point remained. That establishes a disputed passage of play, not a finding that the officials made an error. Hanoi subsequently closed the set 15-12 and the match 3-2. Their recovery in the fourth set had preserved the chance to reach that outcome. Hanoi entered the season as an ambitious, reinforced newcomer, while Binh chủng Thông tin brought the background of one of the country’s established women’s teams.
