Hanoi is marking the 950th anniversary of Quoc Tu Giam with events from November 5 to 15 at the Temple of Literature complex and other cultural venues. VnExpress reported a programme combining performances, exhibitions, interactive activities and academic discussion about Vietnam's educational heritage.
Main ceremony scheduled for November 14
The central commemoration is planned for 7.30pm on November 14 in the Thai Hoc courtyard. An opening ritual will lead into Tinh hoa dao hoc, a performance in two chapters exploring the origins of learning and the importance of talent.
Director Pham Hoang Giang said the production aims to connect respect for parents and teachers with personal responsibility to the country, particularly for younger audiences.
Performers include Trong Tan, Pham Thu Ha, Vo Ha Tram, Dong Hung, Ngo Lan Huong and OPlus. The staging plan combines music, dance, archival imagery, 3D mapping, lasers, augmented reality and mesh LED displays while using the site's existing architecture.
Experiences, exhibitions and a national conference
The educational passport experience runs from 8am to 5pm on November 5-12. A parallel interactive activity recreates aspects of traditional study and examinations.
Ho Van hosts a separate performance from 7pm to 9pm on November 8. An exhibition on craft founders and Confucian scholars opens at 4pm on November 9, with other displays at Son Tay Temple of Literature, Ba Kieu temple and the main complex.
A national academic conference is scheduled for 7.30am on November 12 at the Hanoi Party Committee hall. The series concludes with a youth-focused performance at Vuon Giam at 7.30pm on November 15.
