Hung Yen remained provisionally top of Vietnam's First Division after a 1–1 draw with Cong An Nhan Dan on October 17. Both goals came before half-time, according to BongdaPlus.
CAND had started their 2026/27 campaign with one victory and one defeat. Nguyen Duc Thang's side sought to improve that return against the leaders and went ahead early.
First-half goals
Do Phi Long opened the scoring in the eleventh minute. Hung Yen responded by pushing forward under coach Bui Doan Quang Huy.
Trung Anh met a corner with a strong header after 24 minutes, but Dinh Trieu saved. A poor Minh Phuc clearance later created another opportunity, although Joseph's effort inside the area was blocked by the defence.
Hung Yen equalised in the 42nd minute. Ly Duc's attempted clearance struck Xuan Truong, who finished from inside the penalty area.
Joseph threatened again in first-half added time, cutting in from the left and forcing another intervention from Dinh Trieu.
Late saves preserve the draw
The second half produced fewer clear chances. Dau Van Toan came close to restoring CAND's lead in the 77th minute, sending a shot from near the penalty area just above the crossbar.
Duong Tung Lam then protected Hung Yen's point with an important save after an 88th-minute corner routine on CAND's right. Neither team found a second goal.
At the time of the report, Hung Yen retained first place while CAND occupied seventh. Those positions describe the table at that stage of the round, with the goalkeepers' interventions helping both teams finish the match with a point.
