Amir Ibragimov says Matheus Cunha has helped him understand the demands of Manchester United's senior training sessions. In an Inside Carrington podcast featured by the club on October 16, the 18-year-old recalled a lesson about reacting after contact.
A training-ground example
Ibragimov said established players maintain intensity when youngsters join in. He regards that as useful preparation rather than expecting special treatment because of age.
In his account, Cunha encouraged him to get up and continue instead of stopping to complain after a foul. On a later occasion, he did so, received the ball again and scored during training.
This is the player's description of a session, not an injury announcement, a competitive confrontation or a first-team match result.
Support within the development pathway
Ibragimov praised Cunha's guidance and also identified Bruno Fernandes as helpful. Listening and responding to advice are central to how he describes the relationship.
He recently captained United in the UEFA Youth League at Atletico Madrid. That youth experience is separate from a Premier League debut.
The academy-themed podcast also included U21 lead coach Adam Lawrence and midfielder Jim Thwaites with Helen Evans and Wes Brown, placing the anecdote within a wider development discussion.
The new information is Ibragimov's explanation of how he approaches senior sessions. Support from Cunha does not guarantee future selection, but it illustrates a learning process the youngster hopes to use as he continues training and pursuing further opportunities.
