Alex Iwobi scored the only goal as Fulham beat Hull 1–0, giving Alvaro Arbeloa his first Premier League victory at the seventh attempt. The October 17 result lifted Fulham off the bottom, despite Ryan Sessegnon's late dismissal, the Guardian reported.

The hosts created enough opportunities for a wider margin. Hull offered little attacking threat and extended their winless sequence to five games.

Iwobi provides the breakthrough

Fulham attacked through Iwobi and Oscar Bobb on opposite wings. The winner developed on the right when Brooke Norton-Cuffy failed to clear after holding off Josh King.

Sander Berge moved the ball into Iwobi's path, and his first-time shot went through a crowded area before slipping beneath Konstantinos Tzolakis at the near post.

King continued creating chances after the interval and also had an effort saved. Iwobi missed another promising opening, while Gonzalo Garcia headed against the crossbar from close range.

A late dismissal without an equaliser

Sessegnon was sent off in stoppage time following a challenge on Robinio Vaz. Hull could not use the remaining minutes to change the score.

Arbeloa said better finishing would allow calmer closing stages, recalling earlier games in which Fulham had lost leads.

Hull coach Sergej Jakirovic criticised his team's performance and acknowledged Fulham's superiority in challenges. Those comments did not announce a managerial change.

The Guardian placed the victory within Arbeloa's early work after succeeding Marco Silva in the summer. It confirms the first league three points, while improved finishing and consistency remain further tasks.
