Haydn Murray-Holme scored in the 84th minute as Liverpool U18 recovered to draw 2–2 with Leicester City at Kirkby on October 17. Simon Wiles' side had led before conceding twice after the interval.
AJ Yeguo opened the scoring, while Bismark Owusu and Jake Fletcher turned the U18 Premier League North contest in Leicester's favour.
Liverpool miss chance to extend lead
Erik Farkas threatened early without finding the target. At the opposite end, Cam Williams cleared Fletcher's effort off the line after Leicester counterattacked from a misplaced pass.
Yeguo scored in the 29th minute, intercepting goalkeeper Henry Lawrence's poor pass, passing a defender and finishing. Another interception soon created an opportunity that Farkas could not convert.
Liverpool received a penalty five minutes later when Yeguo was stopped illegally following Lucas Clarke's pass. Farkas sent the spot kick over the bar.
Leicester turn it around
Owusu equalised seven minutes after half-time, having switched from the left wing to the right. He then provided a low cross for Fletcher's first-time finish in the 71st minute.
Leicester threatened a third, but Fletcher missed a breakaway opportunity and Lenix Conde blocked Rollo Szembell. Liverpool responded through Yeguo, whose byline cutback reached Murray-Holme. A slight deflection helped his shot into the net with six minutes remaining.
Both teams continued seeking a winner. Clarke made another block, Owusu shot narrowly wide and Lawrence denied Yeguo late on. The result remained level. Liverpool's U19 group next hosts Villarreal in the UEFA Youth League on October 20.
