Jason Statham and Guy Ritchie will team again for Dogfight, a Netflix-announced revenge action film set in London's criminal underworld. Variety reports that UK production is due to begin in early 2027. It is their seventh project together.
The team behind the announcement
Ritchie will write, direct and produce, with Statham starring and producing. Black Bear Pictures, Ritchie's Toff Guy Films and Statham's Punch Palace Productions are the production companies. Producers also include Ivan Atkinson and Black Bear's John Friedberg.
Beyond the revenge-action description and setting, further plot details have not been announced. The project therefore has an identified creative team and production plan without a disclosed story outline or streaming date.
Black Bear also backed Ritchie's recent In the Grey and Wife & Dog.
Separating the new film from earlier work
Their partnership began when Ritchie gave Statham his film debut in 1998's Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels. Snatch, Revolver, Wrath of Man and Operation Fortune: Rose de Guerre followed.
Another recent collaboration, Viva La Madness, is based on J.J. Connolly's novel. Variety says its principal photography wrapped earlier this year.
Viva La Madness draws on Connolly's follow-up to Layer Cake, the novel adapted by Matthew Vaughn in 2004. For Dogfight, the next milestone is the planned early-2027 UK shoot, continuing Ritchie's combined writing, directing and producing role alongside Statham's lead performance.
