Former NBA champion and tech investor Tristan Thompson will produce Satoshi, a feature directed by Jason Zada about Bitcoin's pseudonymous creator. Variety reports plans to film in Saudi Arabia and Los Angeles in spring 2027 as part of a wider Enderby Entertainment and Yellow Camel Studios partnership.

A thriller, not an identity revelation

Zada and Nate Atkins prepared the shooting script from Cam Cannon's original screenplay. The fictional story follows an FBI agent and a defence attorney pursuing the elusive creator. Its premise does not establish that Satoshi Nakamoto's identity has been discovered.

Thompson joins Enderby's Rick Dugdale and Dan Petrie Jr. as producers, with BDE Ventures founder Brian D. Evans and actors Aaron Arnold and Austin Arnold also named. The Saudi shoot is planned at JAX Film Studios in Riyadh.

Keeping separate productions distinct

Variety also mentions Doug Liman's Bitcoin, also known as Killing Satoshi. It has a different cast and production history and should not be confused with Zada's project.

A Satoshi representative says AI will be a tool rather than the main filmmaking approach, with traditional location production included.

Zada founded Secret Level and is making the AI-hybrid horror film Terrarium. Atkins’s credits include Take This Lollipop, while Cannon's credits include Zero Contact. Producer Rick Dugdale says the team wants people who understand Bitcoin's code and culture involved in shaping the story as preparations continue for the spring-2027 shoot.
