Rui Pinto will remain under witness protection for now after Portuguese authorities suspended a decision to end it, The Guardian reports. The CPES commission acknowledged that he should have been informed of the grounds and given an opportunity to respond beforehand. Pinto will receive the risk assessment reports and have 10 working days to examine them and make representations. The commission is expected to reconsider the matter, so the current continuation of protection is not a permanent settlement.
