Buyers struggle to assemble suitable supplies
Mekong Delta wholesaler Mạnh Khương said he offered VND6,000 per kilogram for introductions to Musang King orchards harvestable before 24 October, compared with VND2,000 for Ri6. A trader in Cái Bè described paying VND5,000 and sometimes collecting only about one tonne a day.
In Đăk Lăk, another trader reported daily purchases of 500 kilograms to one tonne, down from 7–10 tonnes during the main season. Small orchards and uneven fruit quality complicated collection. High quotations therefore did not mean every fruit would be accepted.
Fruit prices are separate from referral fees
The traders quoted Musang King purchase prices around VND70,000–130,000 per kilogram, varying by quality and location. Ri6 was quoted at VND55,000–75,000 and grade-A Monthong at VND80,000–90,000. These are reported local quotations, not a uniform national price.
Industry representatives cited processing demand from Malaysia and buying interest from China. However, Vietnam lacks a precise nationwide Musang King acreage figure and production remains inconsistent. Traders expected additional off-season supplies towards late October might ease prices. That remains a forecast, not a guarantee of growers' income or buyers' future margins.
