Argentina's Angeles Frascaroli and Isabella Garcia Curado say their beach volleyball partnership has developed into a bond between their families. In an interview with Volleyball World, they describe the progress made since teaming up in March and finishing fifth at the Dakar 2026 Youth Olympic Games.
Raised in Santa Fe and Buenos Aires, more than 450 kilometres apart, they have spent extended visits with each other's families during the year.
Roles and routines build trust
Garcia is primarily the defender. Frascaroli praises her defensive ability, attitude and desire to win, while Garcia says her partner helps lift her mood and calm her during difficult moments.
Before matches, they discuss tactics, take deep breaths and joke together to manage pressure. They also describe coach Fernando Siri as a second father, crediting him with guidance, reassurance and motivation.
Lessons from youth competition
Their season included fifth place at the South American U18 championships in May and an early exit from July's U18 world championships. Garcia says their world-championship defeats went to tie-breaks, offering experience they used during later preparation.
They trained at the University of San Martin with different men's and women's teams. International tournaments also brought exposure to new people and environments, which Garcia considers valuable for development.
Dakar was their first visit to Africa. The Senegalese welcome and Saly Beach West made a strong impression on both players. After their fifth-place finish, the practical lessons they carry forward include preparation, emotional support and the routines that helped them grow as a team.
