Cultural industries contribute about 5.7% of Ho Chi Minh City's regional economy, according to a city report cited by Văn Hóa. Around 17,670 businesses in the sector employ nearly 97,000 people. The city aims to raise the contribution to 7-7.2% by 2030 and is updating its development plan. Film, performing arts, cultural tourism and video games are identified as four priorities. Creative-space projects under study remain proposals rather than completed facilities.
