Registered projects to be announced
Ho Chi Minh City plans to announce 12 investment projects with total registered capital of about $13.5 billion around the Autumn Economic Forum, organisers said on October 20. HCMC C4IR director Lê Trường Duy said the projects had specific commitments and investment licences.
They focus on ports and logistics, smart urban development, education, scientific research and other areas. Registered capital is not the same as money already disbursed, and the forthcoming announcement does not mean the full amount has arrived in the city.
The city's international financial centre is also expected to announce ten new members after more than half a year of operation.
Forum calendar and investment context
The forum's broader programme runs from October 26 to 29 under a cooperation theme. Its two main days are October 27 and 28, when it will be jointly branded with the World Economic Forum for the first time. The whole event should therefore not be reduced to only those two dates.
Organisers expect international organisations, Fourth Industrial Revolution centres, innovation delegations and businesses to attend. Discussion areas include technology, digitalisation, green development, finance, value chains and new partnerships.
The report places the event against nine-month growth of 10.2% in realised social investment and more than $17.8 billion in registered foreign investment. Those historical indicators have different definitions from the newly announced project portfolio. The forum attendance figures and planned announcements remain prospective until the event takes place.
