Ho Chi Minh City rose 17 places to 67th among 117 cities in the 40th Global Financial Centres Index, released on September 30. It scored 692 points, while Da Nang entered the index for the first time in 71st place.

GFCI 40 was published by Z/Yen Partners and the China Development Institute. Ho Chi Minh City recorded Southeast Asia's fastest ranking improvement in this edition and ranked behind Singapore and Kuala Lumpur in the region. The results concern this financial-centre index and assessment period, rather than cities' overall economic competitiveness.
