Vietnam's U23 men exited the ASIAD 2026 football tournament in the quarter-finals after a 4-0 defeat by defending champions South Korea U23. The Vietnam Football Federation (VFF) said coach Đinh Hồng Vinh's side had met its goal of advancing from the group stage and used the tournament to assess younger players.

Lee Young-jun opened the scoring in the 16th minute. Vietnam had a goal ruled out for offside in the 35th, before South Korea added three second-half goals. VFF said the experience gained by U21 players who were given opportunities at the tournament would inform preparations for future assignments.
