Germany's machinery association VDMA is calling for stronger EU monitoring of machinery imported from outside the bloc. A survey of more than 400 member businesses identified concerns about competition from products that fail safety requirements. VDMA recommends more frequent inspections, coordinated market surveillance and measures against offending manufacturers. These are proposals from an industry organisation, rather than a newly effective import ban or a law already enacted by the European Union.
