Eight-month import value increases

Vietnam imported more than $10 million worth of peaches in the first eight months of the year, up 183.6% from a year earlier, according to customs figures cited in the report. August alone accounted for $1.88 million, an increase of 220%.

The national import statistics are separate from recent interviews at individual shops. Ho Chi Minh City retailers described a wider range of Chinese peaches alongside more expensive Japanese and Korean products, with some local price surveys recording declines from the previous year.

One shop cited Chinese varieties at 80,000-120,000 dong per kilogram, Japanese peaches at about 950,000-1.2 million and Korean peaches at 250,000-500,000. These are observed retail ranges, not national fixed prices.

Market arrivals and different reporting periods

Thủ Đức wholesale market received 846 tonnes of Chinese peaches in the first seven months, about 83% of its full-year 2025 volume of 1,018 tonnes. The market identified August to October as a busy arrival period, with the season potentially extending into November.

Individual importers reported different increases in their own volumes, including one at around 50% and a retailer at 30% for Japanese and Korean fruit. Those accounts cannot be generalised to all Vietnamese traders.

Customs also recorded $876 million in Chinese fruit and vegetable exports to Vietnam over eight months, up 51%. That broader category includes other products and should not be confused with peach imports alone. The report links the wider selection to varieties and staggered harvests, while keeping shop observations distinct from national trade data.
