The Vietnam Football Federation formally launched the Casper Cup on November 3, naming Casper Vietnam as principal sponsor. Vietnam, Chinese Taipei and Kyrgyzstan will compete at Thien Truong Stadium in Ninh Binh province from November 11 to 17.

Round-robin programme for preparations

The VFF announcement says the three teams will play a single round-robin to determine the final standings. General secretary Nguyen Van Phu described the tournament as part of Vietnam's preparations for the 2027 Asian Cup during November's FIFA window.

The coaching staff will use the matches to assess players, review form and refine their approach. These are the federation's objectives for the event rather than improvements already demonstrated.

Casper's representative linked the sponsorship to its involvement in Vietnamese football since 2022, including V.League awards, the 2023/24 National Cup and football broadcasts. No sponsorship value was announced.

Opponents bring different experience

Chinese Taipei's experienced midfielder Chen Po-liang was introduced with 98 international appearances and 25 goals. The VFF also highlighted Ange Kouame, Yen-Shu Wu and Emilio Estevez.

For Kyrgyzstan, the account named Odilzhon Abdurakhmanov, Joel Kojo, Gulzhigit Alykulov and Valeriy Kichin. The team reached the Asian Cup last 16 in 2019, while Abdurakhmanov provides a connection to Vietnamese club football through Thanh Hoa.

The next step is squad preparation ahead of the November 11-17 programme. Readers can follow Vietnam national team fixtures for the team's schedule.
