Viconship holds 18.7 million EIB shares, equivalent to more than 1% of Eximbank, according to the updated shareholder list cited by VnExpress. Related persons hold almost another 1.3 million shares.
Disclosure does not establish control
The port operator appears among Eximbank shareholders above the 1% threshold. Its direct holding and related-person holdings are separately described, rather than a confirmed controlling stake.
The article does not announce a new management agreement or establish that Viconship is participating in the bank's operations.
Viconship works in ports, shipping, cargo handling and container transport. It operates four Hải Phòng ports with combined design capacity of approximately 2.15 million TEU annually and holds nearly 24% of Hải An Transport and Stevedoring, according to the report.
Financial figures cover different businesses
Viconship's first-half revenue was VND1.722 trillion and pre-tax profit VND381 billion, up 15% and 22% respectively. Those are operating results for the port business, not separately calculated earnings from EIB shares.
Eximbank had assets above VND266 trillion on 30 June and first-half pre-tax profit exceeding VND678 billion, down by more than half.
At an extraordinary meeting on 14 October, shareholders elected chief executive Phạm Thị Huyền Trang to the board and approved raising the foreign-ownership ceiling from 6% to a maximum 30%.
Those are separate banking decisions. Approval of the ceiling does not establish actual foreign ownership of 30% or turn Viconship's disclosed holding into a takeover.
