Seventy-two Vietnamese companies feature in the 2026 Fortune Southeast Asia 500, generating combined revenue of nearly $178 billion, Vietnam’s finance ministry reported. The figures accompanied its account of the Fortune summit held in Ho Chi Minh City on November 3.
A contribution to regional revenue growth
The ranking measures the region’s largest companies by revenue. Vietnam’s group increased combined revenue by 10.5% year on year, about three times the regional average growth rate, according to the ministry.
Although the companies represented less than 10% of revenue across the ranking, they contributed roughly one quarter of its total revenue increase. Fortune Asia editorial director Andrew Staples linked Vietnam’s economic development to the decision to hold this year’s summit in the country.
Cooperation centred on technology and capabilities
Deputy Finance Minister Le Tan Can outlined priorities for cooperation with foreign businesses: joint research and technology development, investment in strategic sectors, stronger value chains, skilled workers and participation in Vietnam’s international financial centre.
Areas identified included artificial intelligence, semiconductors, biotechnology, clean energy, data and higher-value services. He encouraged closer connections between foreign-invested and domestic companies, supported by logistics, digital infrastructure and human resources.
Ho Chi Minh City deputy chairman Nguyen Loc Ha emphasised service quality, effective administration and ongoing support for businesses. The city’s approach includes connecting incoming investors with suppliers and partners already operating locally.
The ministry presented the summit as a forum for hearing business experience and policy proposals. The cooperation priorities form part of its invitation for investors to participate in technology, workforce and economic-linkage development.
