VinMetal signed a contract with Italy's Danieli on 15 October for core equipment for a rail and structural-steel rolling line in Hà Tĩnh. VnExpress reports planned capacity exceeding 700,000 tonnes a year.

The contract covers several delivery stages

Danieli is to design, manufacture, supply and commission the core equipment. The line belongs to the VinMetal Hà Tĩnh steel complex; the agreement does not establish that commercial production has started.

VinMetal targets rail and structural products for high-speed railways, industrial works, bridges, ports and logistics infrastructure. Those are intended applications rather than a list of confirmed supply orders.

The company's representative describes the cooperation as developing specialised steel capability and domestic supply. That is a stated objective, not measured output already produced.

The line is part of a wider complex

VinMetal is developing the complex in Vũng Áng Economic Zone. The report gives first-phase design capacity of approximately six million tonnes of steel annually, with a second-phase ambition of 20 million.

Those overall figures differ from the rolling line's capacity above 700,000 tonnes. They should not be substituted for one another.

VnExpress describes Danieli's long experience and technologies controlling rail dimensions, profiles and mechanical properties. That background explains the partner selection without completing the practical design, installation and commissioning work.

The new development is the equipment contract. The report does not confirm operating production, acceptance of products by a railway project or full use of the future capacity.
