The VN-Index closed the 28 October session at 1,766.65 points, up 4.78 points or 0.27%, even though decliners outnumbered gainers across the market, VietnamPlus reported. Support came from a handful of large caps, mainly financials, while information technology was the weakest sector as FPT came under heavy selling and foreign investors stayed net sellers.
The HNX-Index added 0.36 points, or 0.14%, to 259.86 points. Across the market, 379 stocks fell and 284 rose, while the VN30 basket was more balanced with 15 gainers, 12 losers and 3 unchanged.

What to watch
VietnamPlus said the index's gains have not spread evenly across sectors, as decliners still outnumber gainers. Selling pressure in technology, especially FPT, and continued net selling by foreign investors remain the factors to watch, it said.
