Võ Điền Gia Huy learned to drive manual vehicles and trucks for Bò sữa bay, the first feature by Nguyễn Phạm Thành Đạt. Tuổi Trẻ and Thanh Niên report the cast's production stories from a November 3 presentation in Ho Chi Minh City.
Rehearsal behind the chase
Gia Huy said he had only recently learned to drive before joining the project. Preparing for the film's mountain-road pursuit added different vehicles and demanding turns.
Thanh Niên describes rehearsals by day and night until he knew the route closely. A sequence planned for one night took three to film.
Tuổi Trẻ also reports Ngọc Xuân's preparation in singing, a northern accent, truck driving and work at height. She said rerecording the short singing passage ultimately used in the film took three to four months.
Historical references inside a fantasy
The film uses a 1990s Mộc Châu dairy-farm setting while deliberately adding science fiction and fantasy. In its story, workers pursue a milk formula described as having healing and rejuvenating abilities.
Thành Đạt consulted people who had lived and worked at the farm for clothing and everyday-life references. The cast includes Nguyễn Hùng, Ngọc Xuân, Gia Huy, Tiểu Vy and Lãnh Thanh.
Ngọc Xuân recalled that repeated camera setups exhausted the microphone battery during the singing scene, leading to rerecording. The November 3 presentation brought those vocal, driving and physical preparations together as the cast explained how they contributed to Thành Đạt's screen world.
