Liverpool U19 preserved their unbeaten UEFA Youth League record with a 5-3 away win over Fenerbahce, driven by Will Wright's second European hat-trick of the season. Liverpool FC's report records goals in the third, 14th and 69th minutes for the striker.
The result leaves Rob Page's side with two wins and two draws from four league-phase matches.
Early control meets repeated resistance
Wright headed in Joe Upton's free-kick to open the scoring, then converted a penalty after Liverpool players were brought down at a corner. Fenerbahce replied through Emin Sayar following a move involving Baran Yolacan and Cagri Balta.
Liverpool restored their advantage when Finn Inglethorpe released Josh Sonni-Lambie, who rounded the goalkeeper to score in the 20th minute. Inglethorpe added the fourth seven minutes later from Wright's pass. Sayar then collected a loose ball for his second goal, keeping the hosts involved before half-time.
Immediate answer settles the contest
Heavy rain complicated the second half. Yolacan brought Fenerbahce within one goal with a low finish after several blocked efforts inside the penalty area.
Liverpool responded almost immediately. Luca Eden advanced through the centre and supplied Wright for a first-time finish that completed his treble. Fenerbahce's Ali Demirbilek was sent off in stoppage time following an incident involving Oliver O'Connor.
Liverpool's next Youth League assignment is away to Club Brugge on November 25. The club lists kick-off at 14:00 GMT, or 21:00 in Vietnam, as the team continues its pursuit of knockout qualification.
