Will Wright captains Liverpool U19s in the UEFA Youth League because of the example he sets in training and matches, Rob Page told Liverpool FC. The 18-year-old has scored ten goals across U21 and U19 football this season, including a hat-trick away to LASK.

Leadership through everyday work

Page praised Wright's consistent effort and the standard he provides for younger team-mates. Opportunities to train with the first team reflected his attitude and work rate alongside his ability.

The ten-goal total covers two youth levels, rather than Premier League appearances. His captaincy concerns the U19 Youth League side, while first-team training represents a separate development opportunity.

Page also highlighted Oliver O'Connor's versatility. He has played on both wings, at right-back and as a number eight, giving the coaches options across the team.

Fourth league-phase test in Turkiye

Liverpool face Fenerbahce on November 4 after one win and two draws in their opening three games. They beat LASK away and drew at home to Atletico Madrid and Villarreal. Fenerbahce lost all three of their opening fixtures.

Despite frustration at the goalless Villarreal draw, Page was encouraged by the chances created. He also pointed to the impact of substitutes in the LASK victory as evidence of the squad's contribution.

A separate Liverpool broadcast notice gives kick-off as 11am GMT, or 6pm in Vietnam on November 4, with viewing offered to eligible All Red members and subscribers. The next test is whether Liverpool convert their opportunities and maintain their unbeaten start, with Wright continuing his leadership role.
