Warner Bros. released the final trailer for Dune: Part Three on 27 October and confirmed an 18 December 2026 release date, Thanh Niên reported. The film had already sold about 33,000 presale tickets in 24 hours at the BFI IMAX in Britain, beating the record set by The Odyssey. Tuổi Trẻ, meanwhile, focused on what the trailer suggests about the story: Chani may turn against Paul Atreides, a sharp break from the novel.
A presale record in London
Citing The Hollywood Reporter, Thanh Niên said the film sold 33,000 tickets worth £880,000 (more than 30 billion dong) in its first 24 hours at the BFI IMAX, the UK's largest cinema. That beat the £750,000 (more than 25.7 billion dong) taken by Christopher Nolan's epic The Odyssey.
Three opening-weekend screenings announced in April sold out in under an hour, and two more early screenings added in early October also filled quickly. The trailer itself drew more than 8.7 million views on Warner Bros.' YouTube channel in less than 24 hours, according to Thanh Niên.
The trilogy in numbers
| Film | Release | Box office | Oscars |
|---|---|---|---|
| Dune | 2021 | Over $411 million | 6 |
| Dune: Part Two | 2024 | Over $715 million | 2 |
| Dune: Part Three | 18 December 2026 | Not yet released | None yet |
Part Two was also named one of the year's 10 best films by the American Film Institute, Thanh Niên noted. Denis Villeneuve directs again, with Timothée Chalamet, Zendaya, Jason Momoa, Florence Pugh and Rebecca Ferguson in the cast. He has described the new film as more thrilling, tense and emotional than the first two.
Chani versus the book
Tuổi Trẻ explained that the film adapts Frank Herbert's 1969 novel Dune Messiah, set 12 years after the events of Dune. Paul has secured his throne, angering the Bene Gesserit, the Spacing Guild and the Tleilaxu, who plot to bring him down. At the centre of the conspiracy are Princess Irulan (Florence Pugh), Paul's wife in name only, and the shapeshifter Scytale (Robert Pattinson). The trailer also features Jason Momoa as Hayt, a clone of Duncan Idaho, Anya Taylor-Joy as Alia, Charlotte Rampling as Reverend Mother Gaius Helen Mohiam and Isaach de Bankolé as Farok.
In the book, Chani stays at Paul's side while Irulan and Scytale scheme against them both. In the trailer, Chani (Zendaya) openly defies Paul, fights him and appears to side with the plotters. Tuổi Trẻ argued that this still fits how Villeneuve has written Chani as a woman with her own worldview, who storms off at the end of Part Two. The paper also pointed out that Scytale can take on other people's appearance, so the woman fighting Paul may not be Chani at all.
What comes next
The BFI IMAX plans to start showing the film in IMAX 70mm on 15 December, ahead of the official release on 18 December 2026, Thanh Niên reported. Neither paper gave a separate release date for Vietnam.
