Vietnam U23 coach Đinh Hồng Vinh says the November camp is part of a transition towards a new competitive cycle. In an interview with SGGP Thể thao, he said the squad were due to assemble on 9 November, one day before meeting Thailand U23.
Recovery and a changing squad
The coach said the group focuses on players born in 2005, 2006 and 2007 and includes seven who attended ASIAD 20. Several players still have club matches in Vietnam's top two divisions on 7 and 8 November, leaving little time to train together before the opener.
Vinh said recovery and a small set of shared playing principles would be priorities. The staff will consider each player's minutes, condition and recovery after club duty when planning training and selecting the team.
He said Quang Vinh, Lê Phát and Đăng Dương had been called up to the senior national side, while Công Phương was unavailable through injury. Williams Minh Hoàng and Ngô Đăng Khoa return to the U23 group after senior-team experience; the coach said selection would still depend on form, fitness and each match's requirements.
Three tests in Gia Lai
SGGP lists Vietnam's games at 19:00 on 10 November against Thailand, 12 November against Singapore and 14 November against Qatar. Vinh described the Thailand match as a useful test between players of similar age groups.
Looking towards the 2027 SEA Games, he said the number of future camps would follow the VFF's official plan. The Gia Lai tournament will help the staff assess players and areas for improvement before continuing to monitor them at their clubs. See Vietnam national team fixtures.
