Hung Yen beat Hue 4-1 on 28 October to replace Thai Nguyen at the top of the 2026/27 national First Division, the Sacombank V.League 2, after round 5. Thai Nguyen were held 1-1 by Long An on the same day, while TP.HCM beat Quy Nhon United 2-1 with a goal in the third minute of stoppage time.

Hung Yen take over

Hung Yen and Hue were goalless at half-time, according to Bongdaplus. The hosts stepped up after the break: Joseph Shaqkeem opened the scoring in the 52nd minute and Dang Duong doubled the lead four minutes later. Duong Anh Vu pulled one back for Hue in the 73rd minute before The Hieu and Minh Hieu added two more. SGGP reported that midfielder Huynh The Hieu did not celebrate his goal against his hometown club Hue.

Bui Doan Quang Huy's side now have 13 points, level with Thai Nguyen but ahead on goal difference. According to Bongda24h, Hung Yen have scored 18 and conceded 4 in five rounds, while Thai Nguyen have scored 13 and conceded 5. Hue remain second from bottom with two points.

Thai Nguyen's winning run ends

Thai Nguyen had won all four of their previous games. At Tan An Stadium the visitors went ahead in the 19th minute when Nguyen Trung Thanh converted a pass from Victor Mansaray, the division's leading scorer with eight goals, Bongda24h reported. In the 66th minute Long An's foreign forward Romario rose to head in the equaliser from a set piece.

Long An played in unusual circumstances. They had replaced coach Trinh Van Hau with Huynh Ngoc San, but the paperwork was not complete, so assistant Phan Van Giau ran the team from the touchline, according to Bongda24h. Long An had one point from four games before the match; the draw lifts them to 12th of 14 teams on two points, ahead of Hue and Xuan Thien Phu Tho on tiebreakers.

Stoppage-time winner in Ba Ria

At Ba Ria Stadium on the afternoon of 28 October, Dieu Quy headed TP.HCM in front in the 10th minute from Trinh Quang Truong's cross, SGGP reported. Hua Hien Vinh's Quy Nhon United levelled in the 60th minute when their foreign player Alexander headed in from a corner. In the third minute of stoppage time, Bui Huy Hoang collected the ball on the left, cut inside and shot into the far corner for a 2-1 win.

The victory ended a run of three games without a win for Nguyen Minh Phuong's side, SGGP said, lifting them to eighth with seven points. Quy Nhon United stay tenth with four points.
