Morocco are preparing for a second consecutive Women's World Cup after qualifying for Brazil 2027. FIFA's team profile brings together their African campaign, experience from 2023 and the appointment of Eric Blahic.

Qualification through the African semi-finals

A 2-1 quarter-final victory over South Africa secured Morocco's World Cup place at the 2026 Women's Africa Cup of Nations. Their group campaign had produced seven points from wins over Kenya and Algeria and a draw with Senegal.

Morocco then drew 0-0 with Cameroon before losing the semi-final shoot-out 3-1. Another shoot-out defeat, 3-2 against Algeria following a 1-1 draw, left them fourth.

Blahic succeeded Jorge Vilda in early October 2026. His background includes assistant roles in French men's club football and with the France women's team under Corinne Diacre and Herve Renard. Morocco is his first head-coaching appointment, according to FIFA.

Building on the 2023 debut

Morocco began their first Women's World Cup with a 6-0 loss to Germany, then beat both Korea Republic and Colombia 1-0. Ibtissam Jraidi scored against Korea Republic and Anissa Lahmari against Colombia.

Those victories earned a round-of-16 place before a 4-0 defeat by France. Their four-match 2023 record was two wins, two losses, two goals scored and 10 conceded.

The next scheduled milestone is the 11 December 2026 draw at Rio de Janeiro's Museum of Modern Art. FIFA says World Cup squads will be announced closer to the tournament as Blahic continues preparing Morocco for Brazil.
