Vietnamese para athlete Nguyễn Thị Ngọc Thúy won bronze in the women's discus F54 at the Asian Para Games 2026 in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, on the morning of 22 October, with a best throw of 14.65m. It was her second bronze of the Games after the javelin on 19 October, and it lifted Vietnam's disabled sports delegation to five medals.
A tie settled in her favour
The final was held at Nagoya City Mizuho Park, SGGP reported, and Thúy's 14.65m was her best across six attempts. India's Suvarna Raj took gold with 15.66m and Iran's Shahla Hadidi silver with 15.45m.
According to Báo Văn Hóa, Thúy finished level on 14.65m with Iran's Elnaz Darabian but was ranked ahead of her by the organisers. The paper said she is the first Vietnamese para athlete to win two medals at these Games. Her first came on 19 October in the javelin for the combined F52/F53/F54 class, where she threw 12.16m, worth 469 points on the Raza scale. With the two bronzes, she has completed her events in Nagoya.
