Manchester City may rely on transaction records, confirmation letters and witness evidence to challenge the assessment of its financial case, according to VnExpress's October 17 analysis citing the Telegraph. That account describes a reported appeal strategy, not a successful appeal or overturned findings.

The Premier League confirmed the appeal on October 2. City's own statement said it lodged the challenge on October 1, denied wrongdoing and alleged material errors in the decision.

Three reported evidence groups

The first group comprises bank statements, government records and contemporaneous transaction documents. VnExpress says City intends to argue that relevant sponsorship funding originated with the Abu Dhabi government rather than the ownership source identified by the commission.

The second concerns subsequent letters confirming earlier records. The third involves twenty-four witnesses described as club, sponsor and government officials.

These details remain the media account of City's approach. The club's view of their significance does not establish that the Appeal Board has accepted its interpretation.

Findings and further proceedings

The league's September 29 statement reported commission findings covering 2009/10–2017/18 and said sanctions would be addressed separately. City continues to maintain its innocence.

The October 2 notice says appeal proceedings remain confidential until publication is permitted. No new hearing date or outcome is established by the analysis.

VnExpress also discusses City's reliance on the 2020 CAS decision concerning UEFA. That separate proceeding does not automatically determine this appeal. Upholding, changing or reconsidering findings are possible procedural outcomes rather than decisions already announced.
