Cà Mau plans to hold its second Shrimp Festival from November 21 to 23 at Phan Ngọc Hiển Square in An Xuyên Ward. Organisers expect about 350 booths and between 8,000 and 10,000 visitor arrivals. Those figures are advance targets for an event that has yet to take place.

Linking producers and buyers

The provincial culture, sports and tourism department said displays would cover shrimp-industry achievements, OCOP products, ecological farming, integrated rice–shrimp production and high-technology applications. The commercial programme aims to connect production, processing, consumption and exports while strengthening the local shrimp brand.

Cà Mau plans to work with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment on a conference about greener, sustainable development of Vietnam's shrimp industry. A separate supply-and-demand and trade conference is expected to involve hundreds of businesses and domestic and overseas importers. These are proposed opportunities for cooperation rather than confirmed contracts.

Cultural events have a longer timetable

An accompanying cultural programme will run from November 21 to 25, extending beyond the festival's three-day schedule. Its opening on November 21 is expected to include an arts performance, low-altitude fireworks and a live VTV10 broadcast.

Other planned activities include Kinh, Hoa and Khmer cultural performances, street parades, southern amateur music, Khmer dance and instrumental music, a marathon and composite motorboat racing. Promotional activities are also scheduled in Bình Đông Ward, Ho Chi Minh City, on November 13–18 and at Hanoi's Royal City on November 24–29.

Provincial vice chairman Lê Văn Sử said the wider programme was intended to support investment, tourism and shrimp-sector connections while preserving local cultural traditions.
