BigBang's two concerts at Mỹ Đình National Stadium on 24 and 25 October brought Hanoi an estimated 750 billion dong in tourist spending, according to figures the city's Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism released on the afternoon of 27 October. The BIGBANG 2026-2027 World Tour XX: COSMOS shows drew about 90,000 domestic and international concertgoers, Báo Văn Hóa and Tuổi Trẻ reported.

Demand for transport, accommodation, food and shopping rose around the shows and gave the capital's service industries a lift, the department said. In its assessment, carried by Tuổi Trẻ, the event helped promote Hanoi as a safe destination for international visitors, created opportunities to boost spending on services and raised the city's profile in domestic and international media.

What it means for Hanoi and the concert market

On the orders of the city government, the department led coordination with other agencies, local authorities and the organiser on permits, site inspections and plans for security, traffic, medical care, fire safety and sanitation, Báo Văn Hóa reported. The department said the shows proved again that Hanoi has the infrastructure to host world-class concerts and meet strict demands on staging, sound and safety, according to Tuổi Trẻ, which also noted that Hanoi was the only Southeast Asian stop on this leg of the tour to stage two consecutive nights.

In South Korea, Financial News wrote on 26 October that Vietnam has turned into a huge market with major influence on the K-pop industry, Tuổi Trẻ reported. Yoon Hwi of Carpa, the concert's co-organiser, told the Korean paper that local fans' ticket buying power has grown sharply alongside the economy, and that Vietnam is paying close attention to the spillover from its culture and tourism industries, so the growth potential of its live performance market is wide open.

Why VPBank backed the shows

VPBank was not only the main sponsor but was also directly involved in organising the Hanoi concerts, according to a Tuổi Trẻ article on the bank's role. Over more than a decade the lender has worked with acts such as Richard Clayderman, Modern Talking and Westlife, and more recently with BigBang leader G-Dragon on K-Star Spark in Vietnam and the Hanoi stop of his 2025 Übermensch world tour. The article credited that track record, along with fan activities such as shuttle buses and LED screens in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, for the bank's selection.

The same newspaper said ticket sales drew more than 50 million visits to the ticketing platform. The tour marks BigBang's 20th anniversary. Vietnamese fans had waited three years for the trio to return together, ever since Taeyang, Daesung and G-Dragon came to Vietnam one after another to perform.

What comes next

The department sees the BigBang results as a basis for building on the links between culture, the arts, tourism and the economy and for gradually developing event-based tourism products. The city will keep working to improve management, coordination and safety for residents and visitors at international cultural and arts events, with the aim of making the capital a destination for professional, safe and civilised entertainment events.
