Đồng Tháp tightened their grip on Group B of Vietnam's 2026 National Third Division with a 7-0 rout of Hồ Chí Minh United in round 5, while Đội hạng Ba Hà Nội beat Bình Định FC 1-0 to climb to second in Group A. According to the Vietnam Football Federation (VFF), which published its round-up on the evening of 24 October, the round also completed the first leg of the competition.
Tây Mỗ remain top of Group A on 10 points, but their lead over Đội hạng Ba Hà Nội is down to 1 point. In Group B, Đồng Tháp have 13 points and sit 3 points clear of An Giang, who lost to Đồng Nai.

Đồng Tháp's 7-0 was the widest margin of the round. In the other Group B games, An Giang lost 1-2 to Đồng Nai and STP Food TP.HCM edged the Khánh Hòa side 1-0.

Hà Nội Bulls are ahead of Vạn Xuân Đan Phượng on goal difference. The VFF noted that Đội hạng Ba Hà Nội trail Tây Mỗ by 1 point despite having played one game more.

Đồng Tháp have scored 14 goals and conceded only 2 in 5 games. Đồng Nai and STP Food TP.HCM are level on 9 points in third and fourth, while Hồ Chí Minh United are the only Group B side yet to pick up a point.
How the first leg unfolded
The tournament kicked off in Đan Phượng on 12 October with 12 teams split into two groups, as KBVN+ reported on opening day. Teams play a double round robin, and the top two in each group qualify for the 2027 National Second Division. A timeline of the leading pack, compiled from KBVN+ coverage:
- Round 1 (12 October): Bình Định FC, An Giang, Đồng Nai and Đồng Tháp won their openers; TTTT II tỉnh Ninh Bình and Hà Nội Bulls drew 0-0.
- Round 2 (15 October): Tây Mỗ beat Bình Định FC 2-0 to lead Group A on 6 points; An Giang and Đồng Tháp drew 1-1 and shared the Group B lead on 4 points (details).
- Round 3 (18 and 19 October): Tây Mỗ were held 1-1 by Vạn Xuân Đan Phượng but stayed top on 7 points; An Giang and Đồng Tháp both won 1-0 to move level on 7 points (details); in the last game of the round, TTTT II tỉnh Ninh Bình drew 1-1 with Bình Định FC (details).
- Round 5 (VFF round-up, 24 October): Tây Mỗ lead Group A on 10 points, Đồng Tháp lead Group B on 13 points.
Level with An Giang after round 3, Đồng Tháp now have a 3-point cushion. Tây Mỗ were top of Group A after rounds 2, 3 and 5, but the gap to second place is now just 1 point.
What's next
The VFF round-up does not say when the second leg begins. Based on the schedule KBVN+ reported earlier, the tournament will end on 9 November. At the halfway mark, Tây Mỗ and Đội hạng Ba Hà Nội hold the two promotion places in Group A, with Đồng Tháp and An Giang in the top two of Group B. Group A also has uneven game counts: Tây Mỗ and Hà Nội Bulls have played 4 games, Đội hạng Ba Hà Nội and TTTT II tỉnh Ninh Bình 5.
